Cultural Humility: An Approach to Working with People Who Use Drugs

This learning collaborative is for Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) who are working with people who use drugs (PWUD) and are diagnosed with an STI/HIV. This collaborative will address the three principles of cultural humility, motivational interviewing, and person-focused Harm Reduction. Participants will apply these concepts to case scenarios to develop appropriate strategies and referral options for PWUD.

Disclosure of STI/HIV Within the Context of Self-Referral of Partners

This learning collaborative will provide a skill-building opportunity to assist Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) in supporting people diagnosed with an STI/HIV who want to share their health status with their sex/needle-sharing partners and social contacts and inform them of their exposure to infection so they can seek testing and treatment services.

Maintaining Personal Safety During Field Notifications

This learning collaborative is a proactive response to the increasing potential for incidents of violence and threats of injury for Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) who conduct in-person partner notification services, outreach, and other public health-related activities in the field and communities they serve.
